Mega Food Park

The objective of the Mega Food Park scheme is to provide a mechanism to link agricultural produce to the market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers, for this, setting up of collection centers, primary processing centers and food processing units by entrepreneurs in Mega Food Parks. For 25 to 30 full grown clauses including supply chain infrastructure, which will increase farmers’ income, increase employment opportunities and reduce wastage of maximum produce.

The scheme includes reefer vehicles and mobile cooling units for financing the entire supply chain at the farm level such as pre-cooling, sorting, grading and waxing facilities, packing facilities, organic produce, marine and dairy etc. The scheme makes more efforts to create cold chain infrastructure at the farm level.

Creation/expansion of food processing and preservation capabilities

The main objective of this scheme is to minimize the wastage of agricultural produce, for this, creation of processing and preservation capacity and modernization / expansion of existing processing units with a view to increase the level of processing, value addition. This scheme is necessary to expand processing capacity, increase processing and reduce wastage of produce on the one hand and improve the quality of the final product by modern technology on the other. Along with this, setting up of new units and modernization/expansion of existing units have also been included in the scheme.

Agro Processing Cluster Infrastructure

To create modern infrastructure for food processing of production areas through Agro Processing Cluster Scheme. For this, modern infrastructure and common facilities have to be developed to encourage entrepreneurial groups to set up processing units on the basis of cluster approach, connecting farmer groups with processors and markets. The scheme includes two components which are enabling infrastructure and 5 processing units with an investment of at least 50 crores.

Creation of backward and forward linkages

The main objective of the scheme is to provide effective and seamless backward and forward integration to the food processing industry by bridging the gap between the supply chain with respect to material availability and linkages with the market. Through this scheme, financial assistance is given for setting up of primary processing centres, collection centers near the farm and modern retail outlets with linkages through Inunique LEITD.

Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure

The scheme has been launched to provide food safety and quality assurance, under the scheme many aspects of total quality management such as control, system And assurance should work horizontally. Along with this, food products sold in the markets should also ensure compliance with the strict norms set by the Food Safety Regulator.
