  • In the year 1982 Manoj Pandey was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers The Bombay Sappers. After completing the course in United Kingdom, he came to his country India. After which he was appointed as Brigade Major of a mountain brigade in Northeast India. When he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, he served as Chief Engineer at the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
  • during Operation Parakram Manoj Pandey along the Line of Control Also handled the command of 117 Engineer Regiment in the subtle Pallanwala Sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Promoted to the rank of brigadier, he was given command of an engineer brigade in the Western Theater as a strike corps.
