Additional Director General of Police (ADGP)

Inspector General of Police (IG,

The IG is an IPS rank officer who is the third rank officer of the police department in any state of the country. The post of an IG in the police department is just below the ADGP.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG)

This post in the police force is called ‘Deputy Inspector General’. This officer is above the SSP in the police department, who is also called ‘Deputy Inspector General’. Officers appointed to the post of SP get the charge like district heads in non-metropolitan districts in the country. In SP’s uniform, Ashoka Pillar and one silver star are present on both the shoulders.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)

In the police department, this officer is called ‘Additional Superintendent of Police’ which is an IPS rank police officer. In the police department, the post of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) gets a higher rank than DSP. If a police officer is in the state police service, then he gets the post of DSP. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)

Sub Inspector (SI)

In the police department, this post is known as ‘Sub-Inspector’, which works to give orders to policemen and head-constables. It is also known by the name of ‘Daroga’ in the department. In the police department, this person is in charge of the outpost. This post is considered a respectable post in the department as it is an investigating officer. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI)

This post is the beginning of the rank of an officer in the police department. This officer works as an assistant in the police station or in the post attached to the police station. Senior Police Constable (Lance Nayak)

This post comes above the police constable in the police department. In the uniform of this worker, there is a black stripe in place of the batch and a yellow stripe is also present above this stripe. In the police of some states, a red colored strip is also seen on the batch.

Police Constable (PC)

This post comes at the bottom of all police stations in the country and a police constable is given a plain uniform. This worker mainly does the work of registering FIR in the police station. Along with this, he also gives help to his senior officer in any work. If there is no senior officer present in the police station, then the constable has to take necessary action.
