Since the formation of Jharkhand state till now, 10 governors have served in the state. CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the 11th Governor of Maharashtra State due to the appointment of former Governor Ramesh Bais as the Governor of the State. The details of the governors who have held office since the formation of the state till present are being given below-

1. Shri Prabhat Kumar- Talk about the first governor of Jharkhand state, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, a 1963 batch IAS officer, was the first governor of Jharkhand. Born on 5 October 1940 in the then Allahabad, Prabhat Kumar has been an IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has also been the 25th Cabinet Secretary of India before discharging the responsibility of the Governor. He was the cabinet secretary from 1 April 1998 to 31 October 2000 in the then Vajpayee government. After the Jharkhand state came into existence, he was appointed as the first governor of the state. He remained on this post from 15 November 2000 to 3 February 2002.
2. Shri Vinod Chandra Pandey- After the resignation of Shri Prabhat Kumar, Shri Vinod Chandra Pandey was appointed as the Governor (Additional Charge) of Jharkhand. However, his tenure was only for a short time. They 4 February 2002 to 14 July 2002 Till then he was the Governor of Jharkhand. Born on 16 February 1932, V C Pandey was an IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. Apart from Jharkhand, he was also the governor of other states like Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh. He also served as the 19th Cabinet Secretary of the country. He died on 7 February 2005.
3. Mr. M. Rama Jois- Mr. Joyce 15 July 2002 to 11 June 2003 Till then he was the Governor of Jharkhand. He has also been the governor of the state of Bihar. A lawyer, writer and historian by profession, Mr. Jois was also the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and served as a senior advocate of the Supreme Court. Mr. Jois, the author of famous books written on the Indian Constitution and the judicial system, has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
4. Shri Ved Prakash Marwah- Shri Ved Prakash Marwah honored with Padma Shri 12 June 2003 to 9 December 2004 Till then he was the Governor of Jharkhand. Prior to this, he was also the Governor of the states of Mizoram, Manipur and Bihar. Born in Peshawar in undivided India, Mr. Marwah served in positions such as Commissioner of Delhi Police, Director of NSG in his police career spanning 36 years.

Syed Sibte agreed- Syed Sibte Raji, a two-time member of the Rajya Sabha from the Indian National Congress party 10 December 2004 to 25 July 2009 Till then remained the Governor of Jharkhand State. He was the first Governor of Jharkhand to complete the fixed term for the Governor. After this, he has also been the Governor of the state of Assam.
6. K Shankar Narayanan-K Shankar Narayanan, former Minister of State in the State Government of Kerala 26 July 2009 to 21 January 2010 Till then he was the Governor of Jharkhand. He also served as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Maharashtra.
7. M O H Farooq- The record of becoming the first youngest Chief Minister of any Union Territory is in the name of MOH Farooq. He became the Chief Minister of India’s Union Territory of Puducherry thrice. as well as 22 Jan 2010 to 4 Sep 2011 Till then he served as the Governor of Jharkhand. He was elected to the Lok Sabha thrice from Puducherry on the Indian National Congress ticket. During this he was also the Minister of State for the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He also served as the Governor of Kerala.
8. Syed Ahmed- Considered a senior Congress leader, Syed Ahmed became a five-time member of the Legislative Assembly from the Nagpada seat in Maharashtra. His tenure as Governor of Jharkhand 4 September 2011 to 15 May 2015 Stayed till After this he was appointed as the Governor of Manipur State.
9. Mrs. Draupadi Murmu- Mrs. Draupadi Murmu is the present President of India. Before becoming the President, she was the Governor of Jharkhand. Belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mrs. Murmu has also been an MLA and a Minister of State. His tenure as the Governor of Jharkhand 18 May 2015 to 21 July 2021 Stayed till

Shri Rajesh Bais- Tenure of Shri Rajesh Bais as Governor of Jharkhand 14 July 2021 to 12 February 2024 Stayed till Belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Bais has previously been an MLA from Madhya Pradesh, Minister of State and Union Minister in the Vajpayee government.
